My name is Caitlin and I am a 30-year-old wife, mother, fitness enthusiast, crafter and blogger living in Kansas City. Thank you so much for visiting my blog!
Collectic Living is a lifestyle blog with food and fitness too. The name came to be through a conversation I was having with my husband one day. I was talking about my love of interior decorating and the idea of using multiple pieces and accents in a room that wouldn’t normally go together. I told him that the pieces look eclectic individually, but that when you put them together, collectively, they work. I merged the two words “collectively” and “eclectic” and the name was born.
I believe that this concept of things being collectively eclectic translates into daily life as well. Most of us have multiple interests, favorite foods or even movie preferences that look eclectic when you set them side-by-side, but as a whole, they make us who we are…Collectic!
Through the blog, I write about my life and my interests. I like to cook and love trying new recipes when I can find the time. Staying healthy for my family is a priority and something I touch on often. I am not an expert in any of these areas and I am definitely not a writing expert, but I love the creative outlet that blogging provides.
I hope you enjoy reading about my little family and all our adventures!
I grew up on a farm in a small town learning the meaning of hard work at an early age. I had chores, my kitties and an imagination that took me on all types of adventures. I dreamed of moving to the city one day, and now that I find myself here, I wish for the quiet privacy I took for granted at such a young age.
During college I met Mat. There isn’t a sweet story behind how we met like some couples have, but it was meant to be. Our early dating months consisted of lots of instant message conversations and evening walks around campus. On February 21, 2009 we were married in Bolivar, MO.
Five years after our wedding, Mat and I were excited to find out that we were pregnant. This news extremely exciting us, but we also found ourselves skeptical after an almost two year journey trying to reach that point. At our first doctors appointment, our fears were relieved when the nurse confirmed that we were indeed, pregnant!
After a relatively easy pregnancy and a short labor, Camden Michael came into the world on January 12, 2015. We never could have comprehended before that moment how our lives would change when that little man was born. Cam, as I call his often, has brought so much joy and love into our lives.
Not long after our new addition arrived, Mat and I found out that we would be moving to Kansas City. Thankfully, our home sold quickly and we were able to make the five hour move with our family of three.
So here I am in Kansas City. After having a full-time career for almost six years, I am a stay-at-home mom. I love my job, but I won’t lie, it can be exhausting at times. Mat has been working full-time for a few months and I always look forward to seeing him each evening. On weekends, we tackle home projects, finding our way around the city, and most importantly, enjoying our time with each other!
